Board Recruitment
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Community Health Care is required to have a board of directors, 51% of whom need to be patients. The Board of Directors sets the tone for the organization. The Board decides what services we offer, our policies, and the direction we take to meet the needs of our community.
To become a board member, the starting point is to become a committee member. Committee members learn and observe to find out if being a board member is right for them.
- “But,” you say, “I’m low-income.” That’s okay; we need people who are low-income to represent other Community Health Care patients who are also low-income.
- “I don’t speak English very well.” That is okay, too! Many of our Community Health Care patients speak English as a second language. You can represent them. Language services can be made available for you.
- “I can’t afford it.” Any expenses that you may incur in approved activities can be paid for you. These costs can include travel and childcare.
