Community Health Care plans to build a 54,000 square foot, three-story building at 1202 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Construction will begin in October of 2011 and the building will be occupied in winter of 2012. This beautiful facility will include the following:
Space Usage by Floors:
Floor 1:
Urgent Care Clinic: This clinic will serve all needing urgent or immediate care whether or not they have been patients of Community Health Care in the past. The clinic will have 15 exam rooms and five providers. It will acquaint patients to the availability of a medical home and will assist in relieving overcrowding of ER's in the two nearby hospitals.
Pharmacy: This will serve Community Health Care patients and the Urgent Care Clinic.
Laboratory: An easily accessible location for patients of all health center programs
Welcome Center: Registration for new patients of all health center programs.
Community Room: A spacious room capable of seating 75 people will provide for various nearby community groups to hold meetings, exhibits, seminars, etc.
Office for a Not-For-Profit Associate: Space will be available for a community-related organization to maintain an office in the building.
Coffee Shop: For staff, patients and public [if feasible].
Floor 2:
Medical Clinic: Will provide 36 exam rooms, offices for ten providers, 30 support staff and offices for other related services
Family-Practice Medical Residency Program: Study areas and class room spaces for 18 resident doctors and provide office space for six MD trainers. This is a three-year program that will provide training of primary-care physicians. The program is undertaken in partnership with St. Joseph Hospital. The residents will use the same exam rooms as the medical clinic.
Floor 3:
Dental Clinic: Will include ten open operatories, two private operatories, six providers, 25 support staff, offices and waiting area
Medical Specialties Clinic: Will provide space for specialty providers including Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine and others as needed by patients. This clinic will include 22 exam rooms, 8 providers and 24 support staff.
Staff Lunch Room and Meeting Room: This room will be for the use of the entire faculty.
Building Occupancy:
Staff: There will be approximately 130 FTEs five days a week in this facility.
Patients: There will be 200 to 300 patients per day through this building. This translates into over 48,000 person visits in the Hilltop community each year.
Construction Employment, Cost and Fundraising:
Approximately 60 jobs will be involved in the construction of the building and 270 parking spaces over the next 1 1/2 years [including architects, managers, contractors, sub-contractors, etc.].
The estimated cost of the new center is $17.3 million. The parking will cost an additional $4.7 million. The grand total with contingencies and taxes is $23 million.
Community Health Care has a $12 million grant to launch the project and a State of Washington Capital grant of $1.5 million. A campaign has begun to underwrite the additional $9.5 million of this cost through contributions from foundations, businesses, public sector grants, groups and individuals.
