Patient Care

Continuity Clinic (4 sessions per week)

Effective, competent, and autonomous patient care is the goal of the program. During continuity clinic, NP Residents build their own full-spectrum patient panel with an exclusive NP mentor assigned to every two residents.

Partnered Clinic (1 session per week)

NP residents partner with an experienced community health provider in an outlying CHC clinic focusing on collaboration within a community health setting. As a part of the team, NP residents see patients as delegated by the patient’s primary care provider (PCP), who remains available for consultation.

Specialty Rotations (4 sessions per week)

Precepted by specialty colleagues within Community Health Care in areas of high-volume care often seen in FQHCs. Internal rotations include pediatrics, OB-GYN, internal medicine, HIV clinic, urgent care, procedure clinic, and inpatient rounding. External specialty rotations include dermatology, cardiology, orthopedics, psychiatry, and spine clinic. There are also mini-rotations for ophthalmology, dental clinic, and wound care.

Didactics

Didactics are weekly learning sessions, often in collaboration with the Family Medicine Residents, that address issues commonly encountered in FQHC’s.

Leadership Building

Community entrenchment, practice management, quality improvement, or policy involvement will be the focus of one session per week. We want to increase the number of NPs ready to serve in leadership roles in community health settings.
