Nurse Practitioner Residency
Welcome to CHC’s
Family Nurse Practitioner Residency

o Nurse practitioners provide effective & high-quality patient care and have an important role in improving the quality of patient care in the US. Unfortunately, new graduates are not always sufficiently prepared to serve as fully independent primary care providers, especially in high acuity areas like Federally Qualified Health Centers.
o It is through a structured post-graduate residency training program, like that of our physician colleagues, Family Nurse Practitioners improve the clinical skills, confidence, productivity & job satisfaction needed to work successfully in the underserved setting.
o Residencies are a growing trend in NP professionalism. With partner residencies in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Texas & California, Community Health Care is on the cutting edge of NP residency training. In compliance with the Institute of Medicine 2010 report, we are helping support other FQHCs in the nation develop primary care residencies in community health settings.

o More than 20 million people receive their primary health care from community health clinics, like that of CHC. This number is expected to double in the next 5 years through various health care transitions. Family practice primary care providers must now be specialists in the high psycho-social-medical complexity of community health.
